SUMMARY:Mindful Living with Compassionate Communication
DESCRIPTION:This is an introduction to Compassionate Communication\, also known as Nonviolent Communication®\, or NVC. \n\n\n\nNVC is a set of principles and practices developed by American Psychologist\, Dr. Marshall B. Rosenberg\, that help us form mutually beneficial relationships and systems that align action with values and are more likely to result in trust\, autonomy\, and care for all. \n\n\n\nMindfulness and Compassionate Communication practices help us slow down\, get clarity\, and increase joy. By developing awareness you can shift from reactivity to conscious choices that serve your well-being and relationships. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYou may benefit from Mindful Living practices if\n\n\n\n\nYou are unhappy/ you are seeking a more meaningful life.\n\n\n\nYou feel stuck/ you want to make decisions more easily.\n\n\n\nYou want to be understood/ you want more satisfaction in your relationships.\n\n\n\nYou are ready for change/ you are willing to invest in yourself.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nShare this:\n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)\n Pinterest\n Like this:Like Loading...

SUMMARY:Deep Listening: A Compassionate Communication Playshop
DESCRIPTION:This Playshop focuses on Deep Listening or Empathy\, one of the main principles of Compassionate Communication. Empathy is one of the most valuable gifts we possess as humans\, the ability to listen deeply to others and to be deeply heard and understood without judgment. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“Deep listening is the kind of listening that can help relieve the suffering of another person. You can call it compassionate listening. You listen with only one purpose: to help him or her to empty his heart.”Thich Nhat Hanh\n\n\n\n“Empathy is a respectful understanding of what others are experiencing. Instead of offering empathy\, we have a strong urge to give advice or reassurance and to explain our own position or feeling. Empathy\, however\, calls upon us to empty our mind and listen to others with our whole being.” Marshall B. Rosenberg\, founder of the Center for Nonviolent Communication. \n\n\n\n 1-2 hrs in length depending on the number of people present. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nShare this:\n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)\n Pinterest\n Like this:Like Loading...

SUMMARY:Speaking Peace: Intro to Compassionate Communication
DESCRIPTION:Speaking Peace: A Compassionate Communication Playshop is an experiential learning playshop introducing the principles and practices of Compassionate Communication\, also known as Nonviolent Communication.\n\n\n\nMost of us have been educated to compete\, judge\, demand\, and diagnose — to think and communicate in terms of what is “right“ and “wrong“ with people.  We express our feelings in terms of what another person has “done to us.” We struggle to understand our own needs in the moment or to effectively ask for what we want without using unhealthy demands\, threats\, or coercion.  \n\n\n\nNonviolent Communication®\, was created by American Psychologist Dr. Marshall B. Rosenberg. It consists of principles and practices that help us build positive relationships and systems based on trust\, autonomy\, and care for all. You can learn more about it here and about Dr. Marshall B. Rosenberg here. \n\n\n\nAt best\, communicating and thinking this way can create misunderstanding and frustration. And still worse\, it can lead to anger\, depression\, and even emotional or physical violence.  \n\n\n\nSince developing the Nonviolent Communication process in the 1960s\, Marshall Rosenberg’s vision has been to teach people of any age\, gender\, ethnicity\, or socioeconomic background a much more effective alternative\, and in turn to transform relationships\, conflict\, and violence one interaction at a time.   \n\n\n\n“Our survival as a species depends on our ability to recognize that our well-being and the well-being of others are\, in fact\, one and the same. The problem is that we are taught behaviors that disconnect us from this natural awareness. It’s not that we have to learn how to be compassionate; we have to unlearn what we’ve been taught and get back to compassion.”~Marshall Rosenberg\, Ph.D.\, founder of The Center for Nonviolent Communication\, and author of “Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nShare this:\n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)\n Pinterest\n Like this:Like Loading...

SUMMARY:Self-Empathy Dance: a Compassionate Communication Playshop
DESCRIPTION:Human Needs\n\n\n\nThe Self-Empathy Dance offers an experiential learning opportunity focusing on one of the main components of Compassionate Communication and emotional intelligence. The playshop will consist of large and small group exploration of self-empathy and practices. It is beneficial if you have attended an Empathy Cafe or Self-Empathy playshop but not a requirement. \n\n\n\nWhy a dance? Our emotions\, thoughts\, and needs are never static\, they move! Communication\, whether with others or with ourselves is like a dance\, ideas form within and movements are expressed outwardly. \n\n\n\nEmpathy is one of the most valuable gifts we possess as humans\, the ability to listen deeply to others and to be deeply heard and understood without judgment. But\, don’t forget about yourself! We can empathize with ourselves\, often transforming painful experiences into meaningful self-connection and understanding. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nShare this:\n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)\n Pinterest\n Like this:Like Loading...

SUMMARY:Women's Empathy Circle
DESCRIPTION:This event is online using Zoom. Women’s Empathy Circle is a monthly meeting intended as a safe place for women to gather as a community and share their celebrations and mourning around what is alive in them/happening in the present moment. An empathy circle is not a place to seek or offer solutions to problems (although some ideas may arise in you when you are fully heard)\, but rather a safe place to be deeply heard and to be there for others. Empathy is about being\, rather than doing. Please join this community of support. \n\n\n\nRegister for this event by clicking on Event Registration below. You will receive an email with a link to the Zoom meeting. The Zoom room door will close at 7:35 pm\, so please arrive before then. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\nGo to Event Page\n\nShare this:\n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)\n Pinterest\n Like this:Like Loading...
