When it is finished\, our neighbor STUMP can help you make the creation complete! \n\n\n\nYour piece will then be finished by Primitive Mud Pottery Studio: it will need to dry for several days\, be fired in the bisque kiln (1888° F)\, glaze applied\, and then back in the kiln for the glaze firing (2167°F). DESCRIPTION:BYOB! Here is your chance to design and handcraft a food-safe functional and decorative plate. You can use letter stamps to write quotes\, and messages or commemorate a special event. Decorative and texture stamps can create scenes and designs- your creation can be as simple or ornate as you want.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBeginning with wet clay\, you will use hand-building methods demonstrated by potter\, Teresa Speakman to form and decorate your plate. Feel free to bring a favorite beverage to enjoy while you play with clay! DESCRIPTION:BYOB. Mud Gallery is in the DORA district! \n\n\n\nIn this Pottery Playshop\, you will make a piece of pottery with the same methods used by the Fort Ancient Indigenous peoples who lived in the Ohio River Valley around 1000-1750 CE. It is believed that the Fort Ancient culture built Serpent Mound\, and were Ohio’s original farmers! \n\n\n\n\nThe image is a Fort Ancient pot with Guilloche design (Robert A. Genheimer). \n\n\n\nSource: Maslowski\, Robert. (2011). New River Cultural Affiliation Report. \n\n\n\n\nYou will learn the Fort Ancient hand-building methods and incised decoration style used to create your piece\, and although the Fort Ancient people used open fires and shallow pits to fire their pottery\, Primitive Mud Pottery will finish your pot in a kiln.
